TATTOO
I am an early apprentice to the art form of tattoo. I use stick and poke and machine tools to tattoo my original artwork. My tattoo practice (how and what I tattoo) is rooted in and informed by trauma-informed care and anti-racist politics. As a white tattooer I recognize my position as a guest in this artform’s lineage, which is largely recognized to have been brought to the contemporary American West via capitalist/colonial incursions to the South Pacific. When couched in these knowings, tattoo can function as an empowering and connective practice of embodiment and story telling.
